Token of Trust No Longer Supports Pre-Checkout Verification on Shopify

Overview:

Due to recent changes made by Shopify, Token of Trust is now only supported after the checkout process (post-checkout). This update affects all Shopify merchants using Token of Trust who previously utilized pre-checkout verification methods.

What Changed?

Shopify's platform updates have introduced new limitations around third-party app interactions during the checkout process. As a result, apps like Token of Trust are no longer permitted to enforce or display verification flows prior to checkout.

What This Means for You:

If you recently updated your Shopify theme and re-enabled the Token of Trust app embed, you may notice that the verification flow no longer appears before checkout. This behavior is expected and aligned with Shopify’s updated guidelines.

Is There a Workaround or Update Coming?

At this time, there is no workaround to enable pre-checkout verification due to Shopify’s enforced restrictions. Token of Trust will continue to function as expected in the post-checkout phase.

Next Steps:

There is no further action required on your part. If your business processes depend heavily on pre-checkout verification, we recommend reviewing your workflow in light of this change.
